Lead Cook - Camp Vermilion
Seasonal: Full-Time in Summer; Part-Time During Fall/Winter
Voyageurs Lutheran Ministry is seeking a Lead Cook to help create a warm and welcoming dining experience for campers, retreat guests, and volunteers at Camp Vermilion. If you love cooking, enjoy working with people of all ages, and want to be part of a Christian community that values hospitality and service, we’d love to meet you!
What You’ll Do:
Prepare delicious, nutritious meals for groups of all sizes
Lead and support seasonal kitchen staff
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen
Assist with menu planning, inventory, and ordering
Help create an atmosphere of hospitality rooted in Christian community
What We’re Looking For:
Experience in meal preparation and kitchen leadership
Positive, team-oriented attitude
Strong communication and organizational skills
Minnesota Certified Food Manager (or willingness to become certified)
Ability to work up to 40 hours/week in summer and part time the rest of the year
Age 21+ and able to lift 50 lbs
Preferred but not required:
Experience with outdoor cooking, brick ovens, or wilderness menus.

Maintenance Assistant - Camp Vermilion
About the Role
Voyageurs Lutheran Ministry (VLM) is seeking a dedicated and reliable Maintenance Assistant for Camp Vermilion. This role is essential to maintaining the beauty, safety, and functionality of our Northwoods camp property. You will play a vital part in ensuring our facilities are welcoming for all guests and staff through high-quality landscaping and general upkeep.
What You’ll Do
Lawn & Grounds Care: Mow, trim, weed, mulch, and maintain shrubs and trees.
Property Upkeep: Maintain trails, pathways, and outdoor recreation areas; remove debris and manage trash/recycling.
General Maintenance: Assist with minor repairs and ensure outdoor water systems are functioning properly.
Equipment Care: Perform routine maintenance on mowers, trimmers, and other basic equipment.
Event Support: Assist with the setup and cleanup of various outdoor camp activities and events.
Qualifications
Age/Legal: Must be at least 21 years old with a valid Minnesota State Driver’s License.
Physical Ability: Able to lift up to 50 lbs and navigate rugged trails and forest terrain.
Environment: Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and working in/around water.
Experience: Previous groundskeeping or landscaping experience is preferred.

Background: Must be able to pass a standard background check.
Schedule & Compensation
Pay: Starting at $18.00 per hour (commensurate with experience).
Hours: Up to 30 hours per week. Please note that hours are seasonally based and can fluctuate based on property needs.
Benefits: * 3 paid holidays (after 1,000 hours worked).
Accrued personal days (1 hour for every 30 hours worked).
Potential for continuing education opportunities.
Camp Hosts— Camp Vermilion & Camp Hiawatha (as-needed)
Job Description: Prepare and maintain housing and program space for rental groups, and ensure a welcoming stay at our sites. Act as main on-site contact during retreat groups stay at Camp Hiawatha or Camp Vermilion. Create an atmosphere of of welcome for all. Successful candidates will be self-starters with a spirit for hospitality and attention to detail.
Compensation: Starts at $80 per day, increases with additional hosting responsibilities.
