Joel Abenth our new Executive Director was installed at the VLM Annual Meeting in February 2008.
His Chief responsibilities are being a visionary for the ministry and maintaining a sound financial organization which provides for VLM's numerous programs. He meets with pastors and congregations, friends and supporters, and reports to the Board of Directors of VLM.

Paul joined us in 2000 after spending ten years as the Executive
Director of Lutherans Outdoors in South Dakota where he managed four ELCA camps. He oversees the summer Bible Study, recruits and supervised summer
staff. He also organizes volunteers and assists Kevin and the Vermilion crew with
site development. Paul's main responsibilities is to manage the programs and
facilities of our two camps.

Julie Scheuring
Administrative Assistant
Julie began her employment at VLM in February of 1986 as the office manager. She has since been the Acting Executive Director and now is the Administrative Assistant. Her days are kept busy handling publicity, managing our database and camp-stores, supervises our Boundary Waters Program, produces the annual report, and arranges our golf tournament.

Kevin Docken
Camp Hiawatha Site Director
Kevin came to VLM in May of 1990 and is in charge of the year round maintenance of Camp Hiawatha. He also serves as a Retreat Host, chef, electrician, plumber, and groundskeeper. Through his work as a diligent ambassador for Camp Hiawatha, he recruits many volunteers to help him with these tasks.

Patti Alt
Office Manager
Patti started in April of 1996, and manages both the office and finances of VLM. She organizes our Day Camps, Retreats, handles Camper registrations, assists with food purchases, does all the printing and mailing as well as payroll and book-keeping.
