“Camper to Campers" is a project to increase the reach of the power of camp into the communities that surround VLM. The outreach initiative is designed to work directly with the organization’s 83-member churches and Jacob’s Well, a ministry community in Minneapolis. The project will reach out to the communities that surround VLM to grow the total number of on-site summer campers benefiting from the ministry to 1145 campers in the Camp Hiawatha and Camp Vermilion on-site summer residential and day programs.
“Sharing faith and inviting people into a faith dialogue is a key ingredient in the success of healthy communities. Parent to child, friend to friend, camper to camper, the invitation to camp changes lives. The “Camper to Campers” project will GATHER those campers, families, and communities that know the impact of camp, prepare them to INVITE others around them into the camp experience, and IGNITE them all with the power of camp and the spiritual gift of community,” said Joel Abenth, executive director of Voyageurs Lutheran Ministry.
