A Note from the Campfire Kitchens

This summer campers of all ages will be trying out some new cookout recipes! We invite you to join in the fun using the recipes we share in each eTraveler this summer.

Taco Tents - Trekkers (5th-6th grade)

Ingredients (4 servings)

  • 2 tubes of 8 refrigerated crescent rolls
  • 1 lb. prepared taco meat
  • 2 cups shredded cheese
  • Salsa, tomatoes, lettuce and/or sour cream

Generously grease both sides of the pie iron with non-stick cooking spray. Unroll crescent rolls and separate into squares, leaving every two crescent rolls together. There should be 8 squares. Place one square on one side of the pie iron. Spoon some of the prepared taco meat and shredded cheese onto square. Top with another crescent roll square. Close iron and hold over flames for 3 minutes on each side, until crescent squares are golden brown. Remove iron from fire and open carefully with a hot pad or oven mitt. If desired, garnish tacos with salsa, tomatoes, lettuces and/or sour cream.
