The new dining hall at Camp Vermilion has made big (and visible) strides forward this month, thanks to many volunteers who have been busy all spring. The elevator was delivered this week and is being installed. Volunteers continue to hang tongue-and-groove in the basement, dining hall, and upstairs bathrooms. The trail shack has already been painted and racks are being built this week. The steel roof is almost complete. The gas fireplace was delivered and will be hooked up soon.
In the kitchen FRP board is being installed over the sheet rock. We will start laying the floor tile on Monday. The cooler and freezer have been installed. Fabricators for the stainless steel counter tops are measuring for fabrication today.
Skilled volunteers are still needed. Call the camp office (218-666-5465) to sign up to volunteer or to schedule a visit to see the progress yourself. We hope you can join us at the Dedication Ceremony at Camp Vermilion's Work Day Saturday, May 21 at 2pm following lunch.
