Posé: A pause or rest stop along the Voyageurs' portage trail. Usually about ½ mile apart. We invite you to take a pause in your day to reflect and pray with us.

"For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others." Romans 12:4-5

When I first found out that this summer's theme involved superheroes I was ecstatic. As a child I took every opportunity that I could to experience my favorite heroes via comics, film, and television. I enjoyed many superheroes, but my favorite group is the X-Men.For those of you who are not familiar with the X-Men, they are a team of mutant heroes from all over the world. Each character on the team has a developed personality, unique skills, and traits. The team lives together in a school headed by Professor Charles Xavier. At the Xavier Institute, they live in community with each other and this has allowed for familial bonds to form amongst the mutants.

Throughout the X-Men series, there have been numerous villains and challenges that the X-Men have conquered. They overcame these obstacles by working together and sharing a common goal: protect humanity from evil. Their close bonds and conviction towards their beliefs is what allowed them to triumph.

Voyageurs Lutheran Ministry was (and still is) a critical part of my faith formation. Starting as a day camper, I immediately felt a a close bond with everybody involved with camp. I still feel that same connection today in my fourth year on staff. Like the X-Men, VLM has created a community that
works together to achieve their main objective of sharing the word of God with the people of Northeastern Minnesota and beyond.

It is not just the year-round and summer staff that make this outdoor ministry possible. We need the gifts and talents that our 82 member congregations and volunteers bring. Every summer, incredible things happen in God's Great Northwoods because the VLM community is rooted in the body of Christ. Our community is strong, diverse, and committed to sharing the love of God with everyone that is involved in our ministry. Each person plays a key part in VLM's body, and I am honored to be one piece of it. We are blessed to have each one of you be part of the VLM community.
