Final plans for the new Dining Hall at Camp Vermilion are quickly coming together! Gregg Velander, the "Tend & Nourish" Project Manager, is working with Bob Davis, our General Contractor, to develop the timeline and the list of volunteer projects. Check your inbox in the coming months for ways you can join in the excitement!
To date we have raised $438,000 of the $1.7 million. This total includes cash received as well as pledges and naming gifts for 4 of the 6 rooms in the lower level. This also includes a $1,000 gift from Como Park Lutheran in St. Paul as a response the $25,000 matching challenge from Dennis and Betty Anderson to develop the "VLM Facility Fund". These funds will be endowed to support future building upgrades and repairs at both camps.
Prior to her death, Mary Thydean challenged her friends and family to match her $250 gift to the project. To date, "the Mary Multiplier" has raised $3,900. Gifts given towards Mary's challenge will will be used to purchase equipment for the new kitchen.
We have been blown away by the incredible response of the VLM community to the "Watch Them Flourish" campaign to complete the decade-long "Tend & Nourish" project. Now is the time to get involved either individually or through your congregation. Thank you for sharing your excitement and support! Please mark your calendars and join us at the groundbreaking for the new Dining Hall Saturday, May 16th (Camp Vermilion's Work Day).
