Thrivent members, neighbors, camper families and camp staff join VLM Executive Director, Joel Abenth and Thrivent Financial Partners, Jeff Hakala and Ben Weerts, at Camp Hiawatha in Deer River, MN for the project announcement during the camp’s annual Celebration of Light and Music.

Voyageurs Lutheran Ministry (VLM), Cook, Minn., has received a $25,000 immediate grant and a $25,000 challenge grant opportunity from the Thrivent Financial Foundation, Minneapolis, Minn. The grants support VLM’s launch of "Camper to Campers," an outreach initiative designed to work directly with the organization’s 83 member churches and Jacob’s Well, a ministry community in Minneapolis. The project will reach out to the communities around VLM to grow the number of on-site summer campers benefiting from the ministry.  The challenge grant of $25,000 will be awarded when VLM reaches the 2016 goal of 1175 campers.

So lets get ready to get kids to camp!

Thank you to Thrivent Financial for the wonderful support that they offer through the generosity of their members!
