Posé: A pause or rest stop along the Voyageurs' portage trail. Usually about ½ mile apart. We invite you to take a pause in your day to reflect and pray with us.
But how are they to call on one in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in one of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone to proclaim him? And how are they to proclaim him unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" Romans 10:14-15
These are verses I often share with the staff in the summer. I feel they are verses that remind them of how important their job is as they share the story of God's love with each camper. Many of our campers come from a church background, but we also have quite a few each summer that do not. This makes our job at camp so much more important - their week of camp might be the first time someone has heard the good news. How beautiful are our feet indeed for sharing this message of love!
VLM is in a time of abundance. We have many people and congregations wanting to get involved in what is happening at camp, whether it is sending campers, participating in a retreat or event, asking about the building project at Vermilion, or making a financial gift to help make camp happen. With all this interest in camp it is an exciting time as a staff member to be part of this ministry!
There have always been passionate supporters of camp - VLM would not be celebrating 25 years if that were not the case. But it seems as though camp is much more on the minds and tongues of people right now. Clearly the message is being shared...and how beautiful are the feet of all those who share camp with others! After all, how are people to know about camp if they have never heard? And how can they hear if no one is talking about it? Camp Hiawatha and Camp Vermilion are blessed by you for sharing the camp story with others!
The verses from Romans 10 celebrate people who share the Gospel with others. As followers of Christ, we are all called to tell others about God and to remind them that God loves them because God loves them because God loves them. What a fantastic message we get to share! And as someone who supports camp, you have the opportunity to double your message and share the camp story, too. After all, dirty, tan-lined, camp feet are beautiful, too!
