Posé: A pause or rest stop along the Voyageurs' portage trail. Usually about ½ mile apart. We invite you to take a pause in your day to reflect and pray with us.
This is the first summer I have been a part of the amazing community at VLM. It's so refreshing to unplug from the craziness of the outside world, to live simply. That doesn't mean that camp life is a breeze, but there is a different kind of craziness that I have embraced while being here. Along with the unique life at camp there is a sense of peace that rests within my soul. A secret knowledge that I become more aware of while being in the wilderness. This is a secret that should be well known through every heart, that each and everyone of us has gifts, abilities, and pure wonderfulness that the world needs. These gifts and abilities are things that we are either born with or that have been allowed to grow within us through our life's journey.
This topic brings to mind two bible verses: Psalm 139 especially verses 1-18 and 23-24, "You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous-how well I know it." and 1 Corinthians 12:12-27, "The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ....we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit... all of you together are Christ's body, and each of you is a part of it."
When I read these two passages I am fully reminded that every person in a community is needed. I am fearfully and wonderfully made by the Master Creator, and all of His creation is covered in His loving fingerprints. I hope that you have time in your daily schedule to reflect on the following poem by Russell Kelfer:
You are who you are for a reason.
You're part of an intricate plan.
You're precious and perfect unique design,
Called God's special woman or man.
You look like you look for a reason.
Our God made no mistake.
He knit you together within the womb,
You're just what he wanted to make.
The parents you had were the ones He chose,
And no matter how you may feel,
They were custom-designed with God's plan in mind,
And they bear the Master's seal.
No, that trauma you faced was not easy.
And God wept when it hurt you so;
But it was allowed to shape your heart
So that into His likeness you would grow.
You are who you are for a reason,
You've been formed by the Master's rod.
You are who you are, beloved,
Because there is a God!
